The number "171" in white ink appears on recto in what may be the hand of Antoin Sevruguin. A further number is also on rector, but cannot be determined as it has been scratched out. Both numbers in the same location are on recto of the gelatin silver print of this image located in the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives in the Smithsonian Institution.

Page 291 of “Persia Past and Present” by A.V. Williams Jackson which was published by The Macmillan Company in London in 1906. The print is attributed to Antoin Sevruguin and titled “The Tomb of Cyrus the Great”.

 

A gelatin silver print of this image is in the Myron Bement Smith collection of Antoin Sevruguin photographs located in the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. The print was a gift of Katherine Dennis Smith, 1973-1985 and is referenced FSA A.4 2.12.Sm.19.
