A scratched handwritten number is not readable on recto. Titled "Naqsh-e Rostam" on verso in what may be the hand of Antoin Sevruguin. A scratched number appears on recto of the glass negative of this image in the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives of the Smithsonian Institution, but it is also not readable. The gelatin silver print of this image in the Nelson collection has the number "825" in white ink on recto in a different location. Finally, whilst the crack in the glass negative appears on the gelatin silver print, it does appear in the albumen print of the Nelson collection.

Sackler Gallery Archives, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. The negative was a gift of Katherine Dennis Smith, 1973-1985 and has a reference number of FSA A.4 2.12.GN.38.02.
