A print from an album of photographs taken by the renowned English poet and dramatist, John Drinkwater, whilst attending a congress of distinguished scholars gathered to celebrate Ferdowsī’s millenary and the inauguration of his mausoleum in Ṭūs. The celebrations also took place in Tehran and Mašhad.

 

This photograph includes Sir Edward Denison Ross, an English orientalist and linguist and Vladimir Fedorovich Minorsky, a Russian orientalist and scholar. The photograph must have been taken by a third-party, as John Drinkwater also appears in the image.
